Moved a piano today for friends at church. Borrowed a trailer from another church member instead of trying to put it in the back of a pickup. Had a vehicles with a hitch for 3 year an just now used it. Backed in a trailer 3 times. Didn't hit anything. It's a pain backing a quad cab truck and a trailer around a 90deg turn no matter how much experience you have, though.

High Society
We went tonight to a "small" gathering at the Mayor's house. Apparently 600 is small for a house party. Also, apparently, some people offer "park and ride" service for a house party. Have to say that was the largest house party I've been too. Largest party period. The house could definitely handled it though.. wow. I would likely never leave the basement myself. The basement has a theater with it's own concession stand/bar off the family room which opened onto the back patio. That floor also had the pool table room, workout/tanning room, service kitchen, walk in freezer, wine cellar, etc.
Food was decent, house was impressive. Didn't really "meet" the Mayor that much though. knew very few other people there as well, but it was a fun experience.

Breakfast is not Burritoful
How hard is it to make a breakfast burrito? Is it really that hard? Have I been spoiled by burrito artists?
The office cafeteria grill guy recently left, but he used to make a great "kitchen sink" breakfast burrito, so named because that was the only thing not in it. He would sautée peppers, onions, fried potatoes and mushrooms (which I left off) and then add two eggs, sausage and bacon and let it all cook and mingle on the grill. He would then dump this monstrous mass into a large tortilla with a mound of cheese, masterfully roll it and serve with a side of picante sauce. It was great for days when you were planning on skipping lunch, and maybe dinner.
Now we have a new guy and I don't know how much experience he has behind the grill... New guy put potatoes, onions, peppers and one egg in the tortilla, and somehow fumbled the rolling so bad, it was kind of a triangle. I then explained to him that things like meat and cheese normally go in a burrito, which he then realized and corrected. He then tried rerolling it but couldn't so me and my breakfast tostada went off to sulk together.
I think I'll give the guy a few weeks to hone his craft.
If you're hungry after reading this, here's another burrito idea that is even simpler:
Eggs (or egg substitute)
Bacon and/or Sausage (patties not links)
Shredded Cheddar
Seasoned french fries (straight kind, not curly ones)
Tortillas
5 ingredients, one skillet. Cook the meat, scramble the eggs, bake the fries. Combine all ingredients in tortilla. A good idea is to make several in advance, wrap them in foil and reheat in the oven.

From an Austin Powers fan...
Still seems somewhat inappropriate, especially when it seemingly belonged to a middle-aged mom.The DMV passed it, so now we can enjoy it...

KMart, you suck
Kmart on friday: "That's not on sale right now, it's on sale Saturday so come back tomorrow"
Kmart on saturday: "That's not on sale right now, it was only on sale this morning"
Maybe they need some blue-light batsignal to let you know when they are actually having a sale.

Black Friday
It's time for excessive amounts of shopping and decorations...
I actually have almost all of my shopping done now... Gotta love shopping at ridiculously early hours in the freezing cold.

Happy Turkeygiving
Thanksgiving has passed. A day of feasting and family drama. Had Thanksgiving for Tulsa with the in-laws and my grandparents had an empty house for the first time in 30-40years. They made other plans so it wasn't a total bust, plus their house will be packed on Christmas Eve...
Not getting any sleep tonight.. helping someone with a paper route and Black Friday shopping with Nathan in the morning. Woot.

TulsaNow.org
One of the most important sites for Tulsa lost it's domain name, now live at http://www.TulsaNow.net for now.. Hope this post helps redirect some of the traffic as well.
P.S. Network Solutions (aka Nitwit Solutions) sucks.

150+MPH on land... why not?
Today I finally used my free tickets (christmas present) to drive and ride a Nascar Stock Car. They don't have speed limiters but they do control how much speed you give it an when so you don't get going to fast. After all my worries about not knowing how to drive a stick and getting it from stop to 1st, they push-start the cars in 2nd. You have it in high (4th) by the time you get up onto the track in the backstretch. Getting in the car was one of the hardest parts, but as you can see, I did squeeze in:

All in all, I did pretty well, I was chasing one car down most of the time but I did manage to pass 3 of them:

I posted more pictures on flickr here.

Beowulf
I was not one who read Beowulf in school. I know what it is about, read a little about it, but I was intrigued by the movie. Anything that involves one guy single-handedly beating the life out of other things much larger than them, attracts all men. What I didn't know is that everyone was so naked back then. I wondered if the reason for CGI was so they could excuse away the amount of "pretty much nude" scenes. For those who could not handle the revisionist take that "300" took, they won't want to see Beowulf, for the liberties taken with the story abound. Plus, in the 300, the spartans were only half naked.

Good song you've never heard of:
Heard it on a bionicle commercial. Don't have any lego's, but I liked the music in the commercial. It's called "Creeping in my soul" by Christine Lorentzen. I can find no information about her but it has that evanescence/lacuna coil/within temptation vibe to it. Plus, it's free from the bionicle site..

In my haste to move everything over to Monkeymaster, I moved the blog but left all of the images behind...
Ner.
Update: I think they're all back now.

All hail the Monkey Master
WickerMonkey now has it's own virtual server (named monkeymaster). That means no more $4/mo for every stinking website or using blogspot or other free stuff.
This blog, the wickermonkey site, etc. have been moved over. In the short run, my site creations will be easier. In the long run, it should save some cash too.

Joystick
Drove a stickshift for the first time. Being the nerd I am, I've read about it, watched videos on it, all helped a little. Getting started in 1st is aqbout 1,789,324 times harder than every other gear (including reverse) combined.
I didn't grind any gears but I killed it trying to get going. A lot.
No pictures, would've been a bad idea.

Could've used this yesterday
Had one of those "learn to work with people better" classes all day yesterday. Given some of the circular reasons, I really could've used this picture:

Paid the price
Cost was $19 (plus tax) to get the plane repaired. Don't have a picture but kinda weird that the replacement fuselage has no decals. Might have to paint it. Hope I don't have to do it again because it took half an hour to run the antenna wie down the tail boom and out the back. Major pain in the tail (pun intended)

Not bad for a first try
Note to self, if it your first time flying an airplane, don't do it on a windy day..
Flight #1: Didn't take off directly into the wind, rolled left and crashed.
Flight #2: Took off directly in the wind, flew fine, make lazy circle but once plan was perpendicular to the wind, it blew the plane sideways into a tree. Post-retrieval pic below.
Flight #3: Fly fine but controls were intermittent. Landed fairly gracefully, but shot the battery out the nose.
Flight #4: Another fine takeoff but more intermittent controls. Wouldn't come out of right turn. Took a header, knocking the propeller off and snapping the tail boom.
At least I got 4 flights out of it which is pretty good for a complete noob in the wind.
